DESCRIPTION:The Josephy Center presents a very special art talk featuring the 1st place winner from the Wild Landscape: North Country exhibit. Live stream is available below\, for those unable to attend.\n\nAbout Crystal:\n\n\nGrande Ronde Spring 1st Place Crystal Newton\n\n\nWhen Crystal was 13\, she came out of her room with a drawing of a hawk. Further explorations with pens\, colored pencils and paint followed throughout her early years. In college her thoughts turned to a career that would occupy the bills and combining with the allure of the computer led her to a degree in Graphic Design. Multiple classes within the Design program were aimed at fine art majors as well\; and as a result\, Crystal completed classes in watercolor painting\, oil and acrylic painting and teaching art to children. The use of her painting and drawing skills led several of her professors to urge her towards fine art. Throughout a career in graphic design and marketing those whispers tugged at her mind\, and she continued drawing and painting. Eventually Watercolor painting rose to the top of Crystal's attention and she found that she enjoys the challenges and possibilities presented with this media. While still painting in Acrylics and Oils when the project calls for it\, Watercolor painting has become the medium she prefers. Returning to Wallowa County\, a place she has always felt should be her home\, Crystal began to make the switch to a full time career in Fine Art. She has been privileged to be part of multiple exhibits in Wallowa County\, paint murals for various entities and update painted heirlooms for the next generation to enjoy. She has also found a special place in her heart for teaching\, and continues to be inspired by the abundance of beauty in Wallowa County.\n\nhttps://www.crystalnewton.com/
