SUMMARY:Brown Bag Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Brown Bag is a free event that feature informal presentations and discussions on the first and third or more\, Tuesday noons of each month. Today features: Mary Swanson on "The Big Read: Ursula and the Tao". Fishtrap and the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture host a noon Brown Bag presentation as part of The Big Read's celebration of the classic novel\, A Wizard of Earthsea and Ursula Le Guin's literary legacy. The Bookloft's Mary Swanson leads a conversation exploring why Le Guin's translation resonates with so many. "I am drawn to Le Guin's interpretation because it presents "The Way" accessibly\, to anyone\," says Swanson. "Not being an expert on either Le Guin or the Tao\, my presentation will be a book report of sorts. I will talk about her reasons for writing it\, and read some selections that illustrate her way of showing the depth\, kindness\, and humor of Lao Tau's writing\, and her own."
