\nMicrofiction is the craft of a moment\, a chance to conjure up complex emotions in a handful of sentences. In this two-part workshop\, we will define microfiction\, analyze successful examples\, and learn the tools to create a polished story in 100 words. Whether you&rsquo\;re a novelist\, a screenwriter\, or a poet\, dabbling in microfiction will allow you to distill your word choice\, cultivate a lasting impact quickly\, and teach you how to stay in the immediacy of your story&rsquo\;s action. During the first session\, everyone will be given plenty of time to write and work with prompts\, leaving with at least one brand new piece of microfiction. In the second session\, we&rsquo\;ll go through these stories together\, polishing them for submission and then\, send them out into the world!

\n\nAutumn Bettinger \;is a short-form fiction writer and full-time mother of two living in Portland\, Oregon. When not folding laundry or slinging snacks\, she can be found writing in the wee hours of the morning before her children wake up. She is a 2024 Fishtrap fellow\, has won the Tadpole Press 100-Word Writing Contest\, the Not Quite Write Flash Fiction Prize\, and the Silver Scribes Prize. Her work has been audio adapted for The No Sleep Podcast and her stories can be found in The Journal of Compressed Literary Arts\, The Good Life Review\, On The Run\, and others.
