\n\nStories\, essays\, and memoir are often driven by a unique first-person narrator. What does your fictional narrator or nonfiction persona notice that another might ignore? How does this &ldquo\;I&rdquo\; or eye perceive the world around them? Whether you are just beginning a first-person project or nearing the finish line\, this workshop will help you flesh out these point of view details and many more. We will examine how a first-person approach plays into character development to build the layers of a story or essay. Ultimately the objective of this workshop is to help you identify not only your narrator or voice\, but why that person is the best one to tell the story. We will look to readings like Lauren Groff&rsquo\;s story &ldquo\;Ghosts and Empties&rdquo\; and Gary Fincke&rsquo\;s essay &ldquo\;After the Three-Moon Era&rdquo\; for examples of very different first-person narrators and then explore our own stories through prompts and collaboration.
