SUMMARY:Fishtrap Fireside
DESCRIPTION:Fishtrap Fireside returns for its third season\, Friday\, October 9 at 7pm featuring Eric Greenwell\, Joyce Reynolds-Ward\, and Pam Royes. An open mic reading follows where audience members have a chance to get up and share their stories too.\n\nFishtrap Fireside is a free monthly event for Wallowa County writers to read and share their work. The program has enjoyed a tremendous following in the county and beyond. "The popularity of Fireside has surprised us\," says Fishtrap's\, Mike Midlo\, "I think folks enjoy coming out to hear great stories written by their friends and neighbors." This year\, Fireside is curated by long time Fishtrap friend and Wallowa County native\, Amy Zahm.\n\nFishtrap Fireside takes place the second Friday of every month October through April at the Fishtrap House\, 400 East Grant Street in Enterprise. Upcoming writers include Zanni Schauffler\, Amy Zahm\, and Ralph Swinehart among many others. The community is encouraged to attend these events\, enjoy light refreshments\, and hear new work by local writers.\n\nMore on the featured writers for October 9\, 2015\n\nEric Greenwell grew up along the Mississippi River. His mother loves trucks\, and his father loves movies about vampires\, like that one where Tom Cruise bites that little blonde girl on the neck and turns her into a kid vampire while that other guy Tom Cruise bit looks on in horror because he can't do anything about it now because apparently vampires can't kill other vampires\, kind of like how vampires can't come in unless you invite them. Ironically\, this was all before Tom Cruise went crazy on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Anyway\, Eric takes after his mother. He also has a short attention span.\n\nJoyce Reynolds-Ward is a speculative fiction writer who splits her time between Enterprise and Portland\, Oregon. Her short stories have appeared in First Contact Caf \, Tales from an Alien Campfire\, River\, How Beer Saved the World 1 and 2\, Fantasy Scroll Magazine\, and Trust and Treachery among others. Her books include Netwalk: Expanded Edition\, Netwalker Uprising\, Life in the Shadows: Diana and Will\, Alien Savvy\, and Seeking Shelter at the End of the World. Her books Netwalk's Children and Pledges of Honor will come out in November and December. Besides writing\, Joyce enjoys reading\, horses\, skiing\, and other outdoor activities.\n\nPamela Royes was born in eastern North Dakota and migrated to Wallowa County in the seventies. An ex-burger flipper\, rodeo princess\, college student\, and sheepherder\, she currently lives (and writes)\, on a small ranch outside Joseph\, Oregon with her husband Skip\, and a dog named Charlotte. Her memoir\, Temperance Creek\, is currently under contract with Counterpoint Press and due for release Spring of 2016.
