SUMMARY:Fishtrap Fireside Celebrates Women’s History Month with three Wallowa County Writers
DESCRIPTION:On Friday March 3rd\, Fishtrap Fireside will celebrate Women's History Month with a special reading featuring three unique\, local voices\; Beth Estock\, Kathy Hunter\, and Nodya Papineau. \n\n \n\n"Every year\, Fishtrap Fireside takes special care to highlight women writers in March as part of Women's History Month." says Fishtrap's Mike Midlo\, "Beth\, Kathy\, and Nodya represent different life experiences\, style\, and points of view. I think people will get a lot out of this event" \n\n \n\nFishtrap Fireside is a monthly reading series designed to feature diverse voices from local writers. Each month offers a fresh look at what people of the West are thinking about and writing down. Fireside takes place in Fishtrap's new event space\, the historic Bowlby Building on Main Street in Enterprise. The event is free and open to the public. Plus\, anyone anywhere can take in Fireside live on Fishtrap's Facebook page and watch the recording afterwards online on Fishtrap's YouTube Channel and at Fishtrap.org. \n\n \n\nThe March Fishtrap Fireside event is sponsored by Moonshine Glass Art and B. Bright Vintage.\n\n \n\nMore on the featured readers for March.\n\n \n\nBeth Estock has a love-hate relationship with the church. A progeny of a Catholic and Protestant marriage\, she spent her over-churched childhood on the shores of Lake Erie. When she professed her allegiance to Methodism her Catholic grandmother told her she was going to hell. Being inquisitive\, Beth took some theology classes in college to find out if her grandmother was right. That and her love of church camps compelled her to go to seminary at Emory University. She pastored churches in Georgia and Oregon until she got a metaphysical kick in the pants to quit. She came into her fullness as a master leadership coach and yoga instructor. Beth has written two books and yet\, she doesn't consider herself a writer. She has fallen back in love with church as the pastor of Joseph United Methodist. You can find her there on Sundays with a huge smile on her face incredulous that Love has brought her here.\n\nLearn more at: bethestock.com\n\n \n\nAfter a Journalistic career in Alaska\, Kathy Hunter arrived in Wallowa to perform as a storyteller and musician\, to write and record for children and to partner with Fishtrap in a radio show\, Fishtrap Storytime. Changing focus during the pandemic\, she now spends her time producing children's books of the favorites from her four CDs and in sculpting critters of clay that have their own stories\, too.\n\n \n\nNodya Papineau is a 23-year-old Wallowa County poet. She lives in Lostine with her partner\, Franklin\; her three year old daughter\, Clover\; and her pet cat\, Beelz. Nodya is a paraeducator at the Wallowa Middle School and facilitates a weekly after school writing program for Wallowa Middle and High school students. She works as a housekeeper for Fishtrap and Enterprise Auto on the weekends\, and studies English and Sociology online full-time at EOU. She will be graduating with her Bachelor's of Science in English in June of this year and plans to pursue her Master of Arts in Teaching in the coming years to become a Middle/High School English teacher.\n\n \n\nLearn more at Fishtrap.org
