DESCRIPTION:What is a Railrider you ask? Well it is a four wheeled\, two seated recumbent style contraption that is pedaled on a railroad.  Kim Metlen embellished upon an idea he found on the internet. Thus\, the idea of a railrider and Joseph Branch Railriders was hatched. DBA Joseph Branch Railriders\, Oregon East Cycling LLC is locally owned and operated by Kim and Anita Metlen.  \n\nMay 23rd is the Grand Opening. Come celebrate at 304 N Main Street\, Joseph\, OR 97846 from 8 am to 4 pm. There will be free water bottles. Let us know if you are a veteran and you can ride for half price. Light refreshments will be served.  FYI\, 2014 was dress rehearsal.\n\nThe first day of the season will be May 16th.  JBR will close for the winter Oct 4th\, 2015. We will operate 4 days a week\, Friday thru Monday.  Tickets can be purchase at 304 N. Main Street\, Joseph during the season. Reservations are encouraged but not required and first come first serve.  Individuals and group are welcome. All adventures are guided. The route is gently downhill\, average 1 1/2 percent\, from Joseph with a little more effort required to return. Your guide has the only motor and can assist your return if asked.\n\nOption 2\,  Minam departure to Wallowa is a 26 mile round trip day adventure.  Minam to Wallowa is an average 1% grade difference.  Plan to picnic or purchase lunch in Wallowa.\n\nMay 6\, 2014 JBR signed an agreement with the Wallowa Union Rail Authority to allow railriders to travel portions of the inactive railroad from Joseph to Minam. The Eagle Cap Excursion Train operates from Elgin to Minam\, the only remaining active portion of the railway at this time. Historically the rail line extended from La Grande to Joseph and was known as the Joseph Branch.   The adventure of traveling the old rail line is exhilarating. Guests will see what the livestock and train personnel experienced when grain\, lumber and livestock were transported to market. The scenery is beyond compare\, the experience is peaceful\, pleasant and at your pace.\n\n\n\nSee you on the rails.
