SUMMARY:Grant - Ready Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:A four part Grant-Ready organization workshop series will be offered in La Grande beginning on Thursday\, April 4. The training will help NE Oregon nonprofits set up systems to budget\, track and evaluate programs and projects for larger and multi-year grant funding. Oregon Rural Action is sponsoring the training as part of the Northeast Oregon Regional Food Collaborative and organizations working on food system projects will receive priority for registration. Other nonprofit organizations are encouraged to register on a space available basis. \n\n \n\n	Each of the four sessions will take place at the OSU Extension Office. Dates are April 4\, April 18\, May 2 and May 9. Sessions will be held from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Cost for the series is $75 per participant and each organization should plan to have at least two board or staff members or volunteers attend the series. A limited number of scholarships are available for organizations working on food system projects. To register go to http://tinyurl.com/grantreadyworkshop or contact Oregon Rural Action at 541-975-2411. \n\n \n\n	The four session course includes: \n\n	Use of a project charter to improve assessment of readiness\, fundability and risks\n\n	Creation of high quality proposals\, including needs\, outcomes\, activities\, and evaluation\n\n	Creation of multi-year budgeting systems to track and report revenue and expenditures\n\n	Systems to allocate & track multi-year staffing\, indirect and overhead costs by program\n\n \n\n	The workshop sessions will be facilitated by Lisa Dawson and Sara Miller of the NE Oregon Economic Development District which provides grantwriting and nonprofit board and staff training services throughout NE Oregon. Meredith Howell\, Regional Program director for Rural Development Initiatives will be a guest instructor for part of the series. \n\n \n\n	The lack of funding for nonprofit work is a critical challenge in NE Oregon. Many of our rural nonprofits are delivering vital services that aren't available from other sources. The Grant-Ready grant writing workshops will provide a "self-help" answer for local nonprofits and will bring nonprofits together to work more collaboratively on programs and projects. \n\n \n\n	The training is made possible through the generous support of the Meyer Memorial Trust and The Ford Family Foundation\, with sponsorships from the Baker County Chamber of Commerce\, Union County Chamber of Commerce\, Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce and The Magic Garden Project of the Joseph United Methodist Church.
