SUMMARY:Lostine River Fish Weir Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries for a tour of the fish weir facility\, with a discussion of how the program began\, where it is now\, and what they hope for in the future. There is a small chance that we get to see a Coho Salmon up close. Eric Greenwell\, Wallow Land Trust's Conservation Program Manager\, will then discuss the Wolfe conservation easement that encompasses the river and land around the fish weir. Lastly\, we'll discuss the upcoming riparian restoration work that the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries and Grande Ronde Model Watershed will be doing on the Wolfe conservation easement next summer. On Friday\, October 25\, meet us at Wallowa Land Trust (116 South River Street\, across from the Courthouse in Enterprise) by 8:00 a.m. We will then carpool to the Fish Weir in Lostine. If you're coming from Wallowa on the 82\, turn left on Baker Rd.\, drive about half a mile to a mile until you see the entrance with a sign. The tour will begin at 8:30 a.m. and we will be done by 10:30 a.m. We recommend bringing water\, dressing warmly\, and wearing proper shoes for walking. Bring a to - go mug to the WLT office early for coffee! Please RSVP by Wednesday\, October 23rd so we can give the Fisheries an estimate on attendees. For more information and to RSVP\, call Wallowa Land Trust at (541) 426-2042 Hosted by Wallowa Land Trust
