DESCRIPTION:Each July\, the Homeland becomes a place of reunion for descendants of the original inhabitants of Walawa\, the Wallowa county. Year after year\, participants enjoy three days of song and dance\, culminating in a Walasit service and Friendship feast. Descendants\, locals \,and visitors attend together.\n\n\n\nFree camping. RV's & tents welcome. Vendors apply online. Alcohol & drug free event!\n\n\n\nSchedule: \n\n \n\nFriday July 18th\n\n7:00 PM: Roll call at the dance arbor followed by social dancing (points for participation in regalia)\n\n \n\n**Memorial and naming ceremonies will take place on Friday and Saturday mornings.\n\n \n\nSaturday July 19th\n\n9:00 AM:  Festivities begin with the horse procession\n\n1:00 PM:  Grand Entry\, Contest and Social Dancing\n\n7:00 PM:  Grand Entry\, Honoring Veterans\, Contest and Social Dancing (Points for grand entry and exit participation) \n\n	Dance Specials: Men's Traditional Dance Special and Ermine Skin/Buffalo Horn Headdress Special\n\nWeather Notice:\n\nThe schedule is subject to change based on temperature. If extreme heat occurs\, the afternoon dance session may be canceled and Grand Entry rescheduled to ensure dancer safety.\n\nSunday July 20th\n\n9:00 AM:  Walasit Services at Wallowa Longhouse\n\n12:30 PM:  Friendship Potluck at Dance Arbor (bring a dish to share)\n\n2:00 PM:  Grand Entry\, Final Contest and Social Dancing\, Contest Dance Finale\n\n \n\nNotes: \n\n \n\n	**To arrange a memorial or naming ceremony\, call the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland at  541-886-3101 or email info@wallowanezperce.org.\n	Each year the Tamkaliks Committee awards educational scholarships to Native and local Wallowa County students. \n	To become a sponsor of Tamkaliks\, contact Nancy Crenshaw at (541)-398-1112\n\nVolunteer Opportunities \n\nThursday\, July 17th \n\n9:00 AM & 4:00 PM: Parachute Raising & Prep   Join us in the morning to raise the parachute over the dance arbor\, and return at 4:00 PM for final preparations.
