DESCRIPTION:The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance is pleased to announce the 17th season of Tunesmith Night\, a showcase of original music. The concert features three songwriters sharing their original work in a round-robin format\, at the historic Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall. The unique listening space provides an up-close and intimate experience for both audience and performers.\n\n\n\nThe season opens Saturday\, November 12 with Will Gillespie\, Meredith Lane\, and Gregory Rawlins. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7pm. Admission is $10. No food or drink service provided\; BYO. \n\nWill Gillespie is an old world singer songwriter from before the turn of the century who will travel with you down a gravel road of heartbreak\, despair\, triumph and love. Born in Baltimore\, he now plays out of the town of La Grande. Gillespie's music is influenced by the likes of Hank Williams\, Bob Dylan\, Townes van Zandt\, Tom Waits\, and many more.\n\nMeredith Lane grew up making music in Wallowa  County\, and is currently making it her career. She has been writing songs since she was 14 and not only writes for her own albums but for a songwriter firm as well. She's currently making Nashville\, Tennessee her home base as she pursues a touring lifestyle. Her third album will be released in the summer of 2023. \n\nGregory Rawlins has had a prolific musical career\, releasing an album or more per year since 2007. All told\, between solo efforts\, and bands Catskills\, Sons of Guns\, and Foxgloves\, Rawlins has let fly 14 full-length albums and 3 EP's\; spanning genres folk\, rock\, blues\, ambient soundscapes\, experimental\, garage and noise rock. His last two solo albums\, Basura (Dec. 2019) and Blackjack Pennsylvania (Jan. 2020) were released through the Boise-based independent label Junkerdash Records\, where Rawlins is a participating artist. A writer first\, and musician second\, he has recently returned to the drawing board of formal arts and letters\, and is working toward his Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Eastern Oregon University. Several of his poems will be included in the forthcoming issue of arts and literary magazine\, Oregon East. Originally from the Kitsap Peninsula of Western Washington\, Gregory Rawlins resides in La Grande\, Oregon.
