SUMMARY:Tunesmith Night
DESCRIPTION:Tunesmith Night is held every second Saturday\, October through May\, this monthly showcase of original music is an opportunity for songwriters to present their work to a supportive listening audience\, sharing insights with the listeners and camaraderie with their fellow tunesmiths. The show is presented in a round-robin format\, with each musician playing a song\, then the next taking a turn\, creating an interesting and varied performance. Doors open at 6pm\, music at 7pm\, all ages welcome. This month features: William Finch\, Jonah Shue and Jimmy Bivens.\n\n\n\nWilliam Finch has been composing music for thirty plus years. He was born in Salem Oregon and raised in Lewiston Idaho. His life has been defined by a profound dream he had when he was 15. He will be playing guitar and singing songs off of his third CD entitled Sweet Humble Pie.\n\n \n\nJonah Shue is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Boise\, Idaho. He grew up in a musical and square dancing household and got started on the fiddle early. The influence of fiddle tunes and old time music can be heard in his songs as well as the influences of Hank Williams\, Willie Nelson\, and other country greats. Jonah is fortunate to play in a variety of great bands in the Boise area including The Country Club (honky tonk/western swing)\, The Frim Fram Four (classic mid-century swing and jazz)\, and the Hokum Hi-Flyers (old-time/Appalachian). Shue also loves teaching music at Old Boise Music Studios on Main St and enjoying time with his family.\n\n\n\nJimmy Bivens grew up in Idaho as well\, and played music off and on most of his life. He began writing songs over fifteen years ago\, and has continued to perform all over the country\, including co-hosting the nationally televised show Indie Country on Blue Highways TV. Boise Weekly says of Bivens\, "If such life experiences are a prerequisite to writing good music\, Jimmy Bivens should have a long career as a songwriter. The entertainer's first album\, jimmy bivens and friends\, contains songs based on real life experience. It's a pretty safe bet that everyone who listens will find something that makes them laugh\, cry\, or simply remember another time and think to themselves now that's a great song."
