SUMMARY:Tunesmith Night
DESCRIPTION:The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance continues the 17th season of Tunesmith Night\, a showcase of original music. The concert features three songwriters sharing their original work in a round-robin format\, at the historic Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall. The unique listening space provides an up-close and intimate experience for both audience and performers.\n\n \n\n	\n \n The Saturday\, February 11 concert features Leroy Haney\, Russell James\, and Travis Ward. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7pm. Admission is $10. No food or drink service provided\; BYO.\n\n Leroy Haney is a native of Eastern Oregon\, a singer-songwriter who started his musical journey at the ripe old age of 14. In addition to his love for nature and conservation\, with a strong connection to Native American traditions\, Leroy's songwriting has been influenced by such artists as John Prine\, Radney Foster\, Charlie Pride and his own two sons\, who are also musicians. His songwriting has been described as "Country/Folk with a strong Native flair\, but he can also break your heart with a sentimental love song. His lyrics portray a man who has "been there and done that"\, and survived...Leroy Haney is authentic.\n\n Travis Ward is a bare knuckled folk singer\, a busted down blues man\, a DIY archivalist\, producer\, basketball player\, fly fisher\, but most importantly\, a family man. Travis has toured the US\, UK\, and Europe. He's played countless dive bars\, festivals\, and theaters from near and far\, created film\, soundtrack and live theater work. He's been busted\, disgusted and mistrusted\, yet he continues to make meaning of the world through his favorite medium\, the well crafted timeless folk song. Wallowa County audiences will recognize Travis as the driving force behind the Boise-based junkerdash band\, Hillfolk Noir.\n\n Russell James is a Corvallis\, Oregon-based dreamer who pushes the boundaries of folk\, touching it with ethereal and ambient backups. Lush accompaniment brings to mind shoegaze and dream pop sensibilities. A warm\, raspy vibrato delivers deep lyrics\, which are both personal and topical. His performances are marked by emotion and whimsy. He has 5 solo albums under his belt in addition to 5 albums with his old alt.country band The Porter Draw. His latest album\, Feel Your Pain was released in December of 2021.
