DESCRIPTION:WC Beekeepers meetings are free\, open to the public\, and family-friendly.\n\nAt our June meeting\, Dr. Dewey Caron will be speaking via zoom about splitting colonies and introducing new queens into a an existing colony of honey bees. Dr. Caron is a entomologist who spent most of his career researching honey bees and teaching at the University of Delaware. He is the author of a fantastic textbook titled\, "Honey Bee Biology." He is an excellent speaker with a very broad knowledge base regarding bees and other insects. Dr. Caron is active in Project Apis M\, the Oregon Beekeepers Association\, and the Western Apicultural Society.\n\nPlease join us for a lively discussion about honey bees\, beekeeping\, making hive splits\, and introducing new queens. There will be plenty of time to get your questions beekeeping answered from this well-respected expert.\n\nP.S. In the off season\, Dr. Caron keeps stingless bees in Bolivia. On the topic of working with africanized bees\, Dr. Caron quips "I give up after about a hundred stings."
