SUMMARY:Wednesday "Wine Cooler" at Josephy
DESCRIPTION:July is heating up! (although Wallowa Lake is still cool). \n\n \n\nFishtrap--another fine showing of Western writers and readers--concluded on Sunday. Thanks to the many of you who were there Saturday night and surprised me with gifts and news of a "Wandschneider Endowment." I am honored.\n\n \n\nIt was an honor also to read with Robert Stubblefield\, an "old Fishtrap hand" who now teaches at U of Montana. Robert taught at Fishtrap last week\, and he and his partner\, the novelist Debra Earling\, are here for another week. Debra has been copy-editing a new novel\, and we've asked the two of them to join us late Wednesday afternoon--say 5:00 p.m.--for conversation and a "wine cooler" (not a Brown Bag lunch). \n\n \n\nDebra Magpie Earling is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation\, and author of what has become a Native Clasic\, Perma Red. She recently retired from the Creative Writing and Native Studies departments at U of Montana. Robert Stubblefield grew up on Monument\, Oregon and was a very early Fishtrap Fellow. \n\n\n\nThey are bright and beautiful and live and write from and with the heart of the West. \n\n \n\nWe'll be in the shade outside the Josephy Center this Wednesday\, July 20\, at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Bring your own wine cooler or share some of ours.
