Blue Zone Solutions

In 2005, National Geographic’s cover story “The Secrets of Living Longer” by Dan Buettner, a New York Times bestselling author of The Blue Zones, laid out a proven plan to maximize health based on the practices of the world’s healthiest people. Dan’s team identified five hot spots around the world where communities of people were living well in to their 100’s!  Dan and his team set out to study and understand their lifestyle habits including diets, eating habits, and lifestyle practices. The communities identified are known as “Blue Zones”—those places with the world’s longest-lived and healthiest people.

Dan’s dream is that the lifestyles of the world’s Blue Zones could be adapted and replicated in towns across North America.  There is only one large “Blue Zone” in the USA right now in Loma Linda, California. We want to see if we can make Wallowa County a “Blue Zone” - a place where our families, friends, and neighbors have active meaningful lives for more than 100 years!

This is a big goal, and it won’t happen unless it becomes something we all do together!  Please join us for a community presentation at the Cloverleaf Hall on February 9th, 2016 8:00 a.m., FREE breakfast provided! We hope you will join us for an inspiring discussion with ideas about how we can become a healthier community.
