Josephy Center Presents: Artist Doug Hyde

Doug Hyde was recently chosen by the Josephy Center for its “Plateau Indian Art on Main Street” project. Doug will be in Joseph and at the Center on Thursday, June 14, with a  public  reception that evening at 7:00 p.m. The visit is a chance for another close-up look at Joseph--Doug has been here in the past--and making final decisions on his work and its placement in the Joseph Streetscape.

Hyde was born in Hermiston, Oregon, and traces Nez Perce, Assiniboine, and Chippewa roots. His life journey has taken him from Oregon through Vietnam to art school and national acclaim as a sculptor. He now lives in Prescott, Arizona, where he recently received a Govenor’s Arts Award. Doug’s work is shown and placed across the country, and in recent years he has made an effort to help many Indian tribes tell their own stories in stone and bronze. The Joseph project offers him the chance to work with his own tribal history.

Join the Josephy Center in welcoming him on June 14. This event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Rich Wandschneider at 541-432-0505.
