Wallowology Evening Seminar: Climate Change

Wallowology Evening Seminar: Climate Change - Fire Refugia In Oregon's Forests.  Dr. Garrett Meigs is an incredible scientist at the top of his generation of researchers. Garrett is unique in his ability to combine field, model, and remote sensing data to answer questions of relevance to forest managers. His work on forest refugia and insect-fire interactions is on the cutting edge of scientific understanding.

Oregon's forest are changing in unprecedented ways.  Although wildfires and insects are native forest disturbances, their activity and co-occurrence appear to be shifting due to climate warming and fire suppression.  Understanding the landscape conditions that support fire refugia and overall pyrodiversity may enable land managers and stakeholders to prioritize locations for forest restoration and habitat conservation.
