JOB SUMMARY:

The Emergency Department (ED) Technician plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting. Under the direction of a physician and in collaboration with the nursing staff, the ED Technician performs direct patient care within their scope of practice.

This position assists in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, and contributes to patient and family education efforts. As an integral member of the emergency medical team, the ED Technician promotes a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to care, supporting the health and well-being of patients and their families.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct patient care under physician supervision in accordance with scope of practice
• Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of patients’ conditions
• Supporting the implementation of nursing care plans and clinical interventions
• Observing and documenting patient responses to treatments
• Assisting with procedures, specimen collection and patient transport as needed
• Promoting effective communication and teamwork among the care delivery team
• Ensuring a safe, clean and organized environment within the emergency department

 Emergency Department Technician - Job Description 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Graduate of an EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I) or EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification program
• Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification required or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Current PALS and NRP certifications preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in emergency medical services, acute care or hospital-based setting preferred
• Strong knowledge of basic emergency medical procedures and equipment required
• Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals
• Proficient in documenting patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and quality care
• Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
