Wallowa Land Trust Outing: All About Insects

Are you horrified by bugs?  Thrilled and fascinated?  All of the above?

Well, Wallowa Land Trust has a special outing just for you!  This coming Saturday 7/8 we are lucky enough to have TWO entomologists lead us on a wee adventure into the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest (Sled Springs) to learn all about insects and how they play a role in forest ecology.  It is going to be fascinating, interesting and fun.  And you won’t have to eat a single bug unless you want to.

Please let me know if you would like to join us so we can get a head count.  Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in joining us.
We’ll meet at the Land Trust office at 9AM.

FUN FACTS:

  • Butterflies taste with their feet
  • Dragonflies can travel up to 60 mph
  • The praying mantis is the only insect that can turn its head
  • There are more insects in one square mile of rural land than there are human beings in the world
Join entomologists Diane Knox and Jim Hansen for a walk on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest to learn about insects! Come learn about the vital role these interesting creatures play in local ecosystems while enjoying the beautiful forest scenery.
